Council

Headed by the Chairman, the Council act as trustees of the funds received from the public and the corporate sector. Policies and long-term strategies for Hospis Malaysia are decided by the Council, who also take on the responsibility of ensuring that the organisation adheres to proper governing policies. The Council meets regularly to discuss relevant issues and the meeting of governing policies.

Datin Kathleen Chew Wai Lin

Datin Kathleen Chew Wai Lin

Chairman
Datin Kathleen Chew is the Group Legal Adviser of YTL Corporation Berhad. She holds a LL.B (Hons) Degree from the University of Birmingham and is a member of the English Bar and the Malaysia Bar. Prior to joining YTL, she was a partner in the law firm of Abdul Aziz, Ong & Co in Kuala Lumpur.

Datin Kathleen is the Chairperson of Alpha Malaysia, a non-denominational Christian organization, and a board member the Malaysian Collective Impact Initiative Bhd. She also takes an active interest in education and sits on the board Global Education Leaders Malaysia, Dignity for Children Foundation, and is on the Board of Governors of the Assunta Secondary School and the Board of Trustees of the Benenden School Trust in the UK.

She is married to Dato’ Yeoh Seok Hong and has seven lovely children.

Ms. Ho Chee Kit

Ms. Ho Chee Kit

SECRETARY
Ms. Ho Chee Kit is one of the founding partners of Iza, Ng, Yeoh & Kit, a law firm in Kuala Lumpur in which she is currently a consultant. She has been called to both the English Bar and Malaysian Bar and is experienced in corporate, banking, intellectual and industrial property laws and related matters. Ms. Ho currently serves as a legal advisor to a number of associations and is an Independent Non-Executive Director of VSTECS Bhd, a Bursa Main Board Company. Ms Ho is also a council member of Yayasan De La Salle.
Mr. James Armand Menezes

Council Member
Mr. James Armand Menezes joined the Council in 1996. He is a qualified accountant and served for 25 years with Ernst & Whinney (now known as Ernst & Young) and retired as a Senior Partner in 1990.
BGen (Rtd) Dato' Richard Robless

BGen (Rtd) Dato' Richard Robless

Council Member
Dato’ Robless served the Royal Malaysian Air Force for 30 years before taking early retirement to form and run a government-owned company, Aerospace Technology Systems Corporations (ATSC), which he managed for five years before venturing into the private sector. He is presently the Executive Chairman of Rajawali Aerospace Sdn Bhd and Selbor Enterprise, Chairman of Yayasan Tan Sri Dominic Vendargon and Stella Maris Schools and sits on the boards of the De La Salle Foundation and Datum Corporation Sdn Bhd.
Dr. Chong Su-Lin

Dr. Chong Su-Lin

A graduate of the Royal Free Hospital School of Medicine, London and an MBA graduate from the London School of Business, Dr. Chong began her early career in the National Health Service, UK. Upon return to Malaysia, she joined Subang Jaya Medical Centre (now Ramsay Sime Darby HealthCare) as an Administrative Resident and then Director of the Division of Ancillary/Allied Health Services.

Dr Chong later became CEO for Sunway Medical Centre and Prince Court Medical Centre, and Executive Director at Beacon International Specialist Centre, with a short stint as Project Director with IMU. At the launch of Malaysia’s ‘National Economic Transformation Programme’ in 2010, she was appointed leader of the working ‘laboratory’ for the Healthcare National Key Economic Area and was subsequently appointed as the NKEA Industry Advisor to the then Minister of Health.

She now runs her own healthcare-focused management consultancy, and is a Board Member of AIA Bhd.

Ms. Lim Wai Yee

Ms. Lim Wai Yee

Council Member
Wai Yee has more than 25 years experience in brand building, integrated marketing communications and customer relationship management, and currently runs her own boutique creative agency, Smalltimer Sdn Bhd.

Her involvement with Hospis Malaysia started in 2014 when she led her team to develop a campaign to create greater awareness for palliative care through the introduction of the palliative care symbol. Wai Yee is a strong advocate for ensuring wider knowledge of palliative care and how it can benefit patients and their caregivers when professionally delivered with good clinical practices.
