Palliative Care Workshop 2020: Ethics 27 -28 June

January 15, 2020
Many ethical and legal issues arise from poor communication, clinical decision making, withholding and withdrawal of treatment, advance care planning etc. A clinician’s poor understanding of ethical and clinical practice may lead to a perception of lack of care and the possibility of death. This workshop deals with many of the ethical issues in palliative care mainly through case discussions. Those involved in palliative care should be aware of both ethical issues as well as the clinical evidence that should guide their practice.

Our invited facilitators are:

  • Associate Professor Ghauri Aggarwal – Head of Palliative Care Department, Concord Hospital, Sydney, Australia
  • Sumytra Menon – Senior Assistant Director at the Centre for Biomedical Ethics (CBmE)
  • Dr Ednin Hamzah – Chief Executive Officer, Hospis Malaysia
  • Dr Sylvia Mc Carthy – Medical Director, Hospis Malaysia

A stimulating program that addresses many of the above issues in the form of lectures and it is conducted in English, all participants will be expected to communicate and interact during the workshop.
